Active card checks

When you use a card online, a lot of merchants will make a small ‘test’ payment to make sure you’ve given them the right details and your card's active.

These tend to be for around £0.10 or £1, but some merchants test with more. Normally, they’ll subtract it from the total amount of the transaction or reverse the payment within 8 days
