Tipping in the USA
When you tip in the USA, the amount you have tipped does not instantly come out of your account. This is because the merchant asks us to create an authorisation. This authorisation initially only includes the amount you paid without the tip. This pre-tip amount will show in your app as greyed out.
A few days later, the amount you have tipped will be added to the transaction. This is your final amount.
This shouldn't cause any issues but if you plan on splitting a bill, or adding a transaction to a shared tab where you have tipped, you may want to wait for the final charge to update. Otherwise one person may end up paying the entire tip amount!
